Many years ago I had a similar problem although on mine the second part of
Drive C was less than 16 Mbytes. It happened when the data began writing to
the second file. I too lost all my data. I never did find out how the PC data
was stored on the ProDOS file. It was very frustrating because the data is
actually there but I was unable to access it. Rather than take a chance that
it would happen again I reformatted the first AEPC hard drive file and
eliminated the second one. I have had no problem since. Of course I have to
limit myself to 16 Mbyte per hard drive (in fact I think I made it a little
smaller than 16 Mbytes on the chance that the bug was in ProDOS) which isn't so
bad since about the only thing I use the PC Transporter for anymore is to
transfer files between my IIgs and my PC.
The only other thing I could suggest is that maybe some PC disk utility like
Norton's Disk Doctor may be able to fix the AEPC hard drive image.
