Pretty much every school I went to when I was a kid had an Apple II
someplace, from 1st grade all the way into high school (I started
kindergarten in 1982, for what it's worth). My school for first-third
grades(North Springfield ES) had spanking-new Apple IIes, and later on
(1984, after I learned BASIC on our ADAM at home...) they had Enhanced
IIes. I first used an older II (a II+, IIRC) in 1989 or so, and I first got
to use a IIgs around 1990-1992 (I thought GS/OS was the coolest thing ever
at the time, cooler even than the Mac). In 9th grade, the little school I
went to had an original IIc, a Platinum IIe, and a Mac Classic; I loved all
three of them.

It wasn't until 1993, the end of 10th grade, that I wasn't using a II for
something in my classes. The last class I took on one was Computer Science I
(basically relearning Applesoft BASIC), and that was done on ROM 01 GSes. I
hear the computer lab there has been switched completely over to Dells at
this point (it was half GSes, half old Everex PCs at the time).
