Re: Al Gore on apple board now! Apple is going down the tubes.

Right on guys! Notice how much better things are since Bush took office?
One terrific benefit is that so many Apple II collectors have lost their
jobs that it's a lot cheaper to pick up hardware. We can only hope that Bush
continues to work his economic magic.

One thing Paul "forgot" was that Bush inherited a recession from Clinton-Gore that began in March 2000 with high energy (read: oil) costs, which were a result of Clinton-gore "diplomacy" in getting the oil cartel to cut production so the price would rise. The only problem is it rose well beyond the $25 a barrel they wanted.

The first Bush budget wasn't even passed with a "little" hiccup took place in America's economy, I guess Paul forgot about 9/11/01. The tax cut? Passed with large democratic participation, leaving 2/3s of the projected surplus, which according to the CBO was already in danger because of the Clinton-Gore recession. The tax cut probably would have stimulated the economy into growth, except for 9/11. I suppose Paul blames Bush for that too.

Less than half of us vote, and less than half of those who do are all that it normally takes to elect someone (Clinton NEVER had 50% + 1 of the popular vote), and few Americans can remember more than 3 months in to the past.

That's a prescription for demagogues - and while they don't have a corner on the market, the Democrats clearly have a surplus.

If the man who invented the Internet isn't qualified to serve on the Apple
board, then I don't know who is...

I have seen board meetings in action, and they are little more than
figureheads in most companies. They do little more than show up for a
biannual meeting where they place token votes to grant executive stock
options and approve fraudulent audits. They receive a nice five or six
figure honorarium (director's fee) for their ten minutes of service a year
and they are sent on their merry way. So I would say AG is more than
qualified :)

Can't believe they had him join the board. Apple is full of bad
apples these days!
