It must be nice to be George Bush. Never had to really work, always lots of
people like you to make excuses for him. Here are the cold, hard facts:
"The NBER's Business Cycle Dating Committee has determined that a peak in
business activity occurred in the U.S. economy in March 2001," the panel
said in its announcement. "A peak marks the end of an expansion and the
beginning of a recession."

On my calendar, March 2001 comes during the Bush administration, and long
before 9/11.
A few more cold, hard facts: Bush inherited a strong economy, and a budget
surplus. He promptly turned it into a recession and deficit. This was
happening before 9/11, which happened on Bush's watch. Not only that, but
Osama bin Laden was the creation of Bush's father and Reagan. Or are you
going to deny that we are now fighting the people we armed and trained to
fight the Soviets?
I'll also note that we wouldn't be spending billions of tax dollars invading
Iraq if Bush's father hadn't screwed up in the first place.
I can imagine what you'd be saying if things were reversed and Bush had been
in office for 8 years of unprecedented prosperity and turned things over to
Clinton, who promptly put the economy into a tailspin, started running huge
deficits, and let 9/11 happen after taking 3 month-long vacations during his
first 9 months in office.
BTW, I served in the USAF during the Vietnam war, at the same time Bush was
hiding out in the Texas National Guard. Unlike Bush, I didn't go AWOL - I
served my whole hitch.
And also BTW, I just got layed off because companies are not investing due
to concerns that Bush's war will push the country back into recession. And
I'm not alone, thousands of my coworkers have lost their jobs.
But don't weep for me. I sold my stocks before Bush wrecked the economy.
Anyone who's had economics knows that you don't cut taxes when the economy
is booming, because it's inflationary. As I just pointed out, the economy
peaked AFTER Bush got "elected".
That's my last word on this, because it's off-topic and there is no point in
arguing with people too dumb to face reality.
It's a cold, hard fact that the country was much better off under Clinton.
