No reason to think the signals mentioned would not exist on the unidiskdrives. Therefore, the hack would work if you connected the circuit tothe proper points. Unfortunately I do not have the informationnecessary to tell you what those solder points are, but I'm certainsomeone who has the schematics for the drive could convert theinformation to an appropriate hack for those drives.
