I've heard of this card and the software, but never seen it in action.
Where is your RGB monitor plugged in, if not into the D15 connector on
the card?

Yes. Go to the control panel and make sure the display type is set to
colour. This option is used to set the composite output to monochrome in
all modes, but it also sets the RGB output to mono in double hi-res mode
only. This way you can switch between DHR mono and colour.
Some IIgs-aware DHR programs will automatically make this change while
they're running.
