Installing vulcan IIGS harddrive - noisy fan?

Hello!

I have a Vulcan hardisk  (with integrated power-supply) installed in my
IIGS. The harddisk has not been used for several years.  When starting the
IIGS the hardrive starts as expected,  but the fan is little noisy during
the first minutes of operation.  After a while the fan-sound is at a normal
level.

Would this behaviour be expected after long-time storage? Is there any way
to lubricate the fan to prevent it from being noisy during startup?

Any advice appreciated!
