My Vulcan died a few years ago, but what you describe brought back
memories. From Day 1, my fan was noisy, but settled down after a few
minutes. 

I just ignored it.

Just like I ignore the noisy fan in my System Saver. And, have been, for
the past 10 years. I don't even notice the noise anymore.
