Lode Runner is an all-time favorite, even in PC reincarnation.Best thing was these games were fitting in 64K, not 6 CD sets like some PC games today.
Okay, where did I put that Apple Joystick... :) Cheers! Tim Haynes wrote:
And the key is to RUN between guard fights. If you just walk, you'll have to fight a lot more guards. But, you have to stop running before the next guard takes a punch/kick at you - if they hit you while you are running, you die immediately. You need to stop about a body-length before them. And you can only hit the bird with high kicks. :-) Cheers Tim "Rob" <rob@nospam.inreach.com> wrote in message news:al2w9.183483$%d2.64140@sccrnsc01...Yup, Martin is right. If you are standing in one place then the guardswillkeep coming. You need to continue to move forward after defeating each guard. Eventually you'll make it to the inside of the castle, then past the gate, then down to the dungeon, etc. "Martin" <martinf@ot.com.au> wrote in message news:1036035668.820537@envoy..."Jason Whorton" <jason at microxl.com> wrote in message us13m8q2bvd68f@corp.supernews.com">news:us13m8q2bvd68f@corp.supernews.com...On Karateka, how many of the enemy guards do they send at you on thefirststage before you get to go to the next stage? I bought it "just thedisk"from a thrift store and I don't have any instructions. I must havedefeatedat least 15 guards before I got defeated. Am I missing something? There is probably an infinte number if you hang around. I must admit I haven't played this game in many years ..... (although hopefully I will get back into it, as I am getting a IIGS soon, it wasmanyyears ago I sold my last Apple Machine). Basically as soon as you have defeated one enemy, you need to movetowardsthe right as fast as possible, until you reach the next enemy guy. You are able to run - hold up on the joystick to stand vertical, andthendiagonal top right if I remember correctly, to run right. If you don'trun, but do the side step thing, it will probably take you a while to get tothenext stage. Great game though, probably one of my faves when I had my Apple way backinthe 80's. That, Loderunner and Rescue Raiders, consumed the vastmajorityofmy teens ! Cheers Martin
