Oops, let me change that statement.  You can use your IIc to program in
BASIC and experiment.  But you will not be able to save your programs. 
Just press Control and Reset keys simultaneously to get to a BASIC
prompt.

Then type:
NEW
10 ?"This Apple is neat!",:GOTO 10
LIST
RUN
Control-C

Have fun!
