I'm not an expert on it, but I've read that the G4 processor is quite
advanced. Apple has done well by adding FireWire and their wireless
networking is said to be good. I know the schools have a zillion PC's, but
for the high-end applications like digital video it's Macs.
Your point that a Mac is not really a Mac anymore is good- it's not a 680XX
processor, and as you say it's a Unix-based OS.  That's evolution.

Wonder if they could have done that with the Apple II. A 32 bit processor,
SVGA resolution, and updates to the GS/OS...

I also wonder why they didn't make a hard disk standard.
