Sorry I am not knowledgeable on AWGS but... I am on printing to a Laserwriter
from a GS:
I have a Laserwriter IIgm well sort of, it THINKS its a IIIg but it is really
a IIsc and a HP laserjet IId I raided for parts. All of them use the same
basic Canon engine btw.... ANYWAY..
This IIg can be addrssed either via Ethernet or Localtalk. I had it on
Ethernet only and one Mac set as LT Bridge with IIGS and IIes (the Mac runs
Appleshare 3.0.3 on System 7.5.3).
I could see it in the Net Printer Control Panel and it would select. Matter
of fact I could even load Imagewriter II emulation from the IIgs and the sheet
of paper saying: "I done that thing" would come out, BUT...like you I kept
popping that error whenever I tried to print (Shadowwrite, Fredwriter, Teach
Text etc, didn't matter what app). Tried amost EVERHTHING I did... until:
For grins I tired hooking a phone net wire on the localtalk leg to the
localtalk port on the IIg. Went back to the Macs and saw: 2 Laserwriters in
Chooser.. humm...
Went to the IIGS and yep: 2 Laserwriters. I choose the 2nd one (same printer,
localtalk route). Danged if it didn't print!
So MY advice: run LT Bridge on a Mac, hook phone net, Appletalk, or a serial
cable to the printer and try that...
