After replacing a number of these I can tell you for a fact that it is the
keyboard encoder board. The slide switch gives you the option of either
control
reset or straight reset (the control option was better as there was no accident
while play that hard to beat game). The unit you are describing works on the
apple II+ but I think it also works on the straight apple II as well.
