<< How about when the government is doing it? The Constitution grants
the government the power to grant copyrights for a limited time --
indefinite extensions don't cut it. Taking works back OUT of the
public domain also doesn't cut it. And then there's the DMCA, which
legally prevents you from defeating copy protection measures which
prevent you from doing that which other copyright law protects your
right do do. If the government doesn't feel constrained to make its
laws according to its charter, why (aside from force) should anyone
feel constrained to follow those laws. >>
As a democrat who believes in the power,
morality and justness of a true democracy
(i.e. -> the will of the majority of the people)
It's very clear to me that here in the USA on
the federal level - we no longer live in a
democracy.
We have a president who was appointed to
office by an elite power base of political controllers. In most cases, the
will of the
majority of the people no longer applies to
the desires of the this political power base collective in our federal
government.
What we have now in the USA is more of a
federal republic - than any thing else. The
state of a true democracy for the USA seems
to have slowly and progressively vanished on a federal level from around 1950
until now. I know
a lot of people who simply do not like any of it,
in the way it's all going. So, get ready for it folks.
I expect we are going to see a long and red hot summer, in more ways than I'd
care to offer in this reply!
It's all rather pitiful too when you consider that
if you are in the majority with your desires
and it is the will of the majority of the people
that make up the place where you live the
government of the country you live in will not
grant you your desires.
I'm rather glad that I live in a very special county
here in the state of California where true democracy
still exist and is still honored by our state and county governments.

Yes, that is a true fact or sure!

It certainly is a 'BIG DEAL' for sure!!!
I think most aware people know that in the
USA today, it takes money to obtain power.
Chaney, Bush and most of the current federal
offices of power have proven this with their
desire for power in their appointed positions.

I elect no vice over no virtue :) - I've never cared
for moderation in pursuit of justice. I've never
cared for virtue either. But, I do believe in extremism in defense of liberty.
That's why I
moved to Mendocino county in California. Seem
I'm one of those unique conservative extremist.
Cheers,
