Rest assured that the supplies were sharing the load.

It is a property of electricity that if you hook two supplies in
parallel, you get twice the amperage out with the same voltage.  If
you hook them in series, though, you end up with the same amount of
amperage but twice the voltage so don't go doing that with your Apple
II power supplies.  :-)
