Well, let's hope the serial ports are ok. It's actually pretty
easy to damage them on the 2c. All it takes is a loose connection
on either of the 2c ports to surge power through the ports and as
they are connected internally, both of them would die.

Now that the depressing part is over, you should perform some
tests. Make sure the imagewriter is in fact working. Verify the
cable has no breaks or damage. If you have a continuity tester,
you could check the cable to ensure all pins function. If you know
the actual pinouts for the cable, you could verify the cable is
the correct one and not a modem cable. You can't always rely on
the manufacturer.

On the 2c, you can run the 2c utility disk. In the utilities you
can verify the port settings. I think the default for port one is
correct for the imagewriter printer. AFAIK, there is nothing else
which would cause problems with the printer. Also, AFAIK, there is
no other way to verify the status of the computer's port.
