I wasn't arguing the point of commercial software, that much is pretty much
a given. The drop in sales of commercial software no doubt had alot to do with
Apple dropping the entire Apple II line of products from it's price lists.

Agreed. What I was mainly refering to was the other portions of software
developers, who wrote software out of love of the hobby. The so called
shareware market. That I believe was the primary hope of any new fun or
useful software for our beloved hobby.
