The 255 Apple IIc is upgradeable to the unidisk model. It's a fairly easy mod,
however you would require a replacement ROM. I believe Steve Buggie
can provide one for a very modest price. However if you don't have a
3.5 unidisk it may not be worth the trouble.
For the video problem, I'd check the cable connection and if I couldn't get
access to another monitor, I'd try hooking it up to a TV and see if the
problem is replicated there.
