Laser 128 to Laser monitor connection?
HELP! I thought I was getting to know my Apple 2 hardware pretty well but
this one has me stumped--mostly because it defies logic.
I just picked up a Laser monitor (HMM-1200) to go with one of my Laser
128s. It clearly says on the back "Apple, Amber" and has the same red
LASER logo as the Apple 2 clones (I originally suspected it might have
been for their PC/XT clone but those had blue logos).
The problem is in the video connector. Every flavor of Laser 128 I own has
a DB15 connector for video but this monitor has a DB9. I thought it was a
fluke but today I found another monitor with the same connector. What
gives?
Did Laser actually supply these things with a kludgey adapter for their
own brand monitor? Was this some attempt to save production costs by
making it an off the shelf CGA monitor with appropriate stickers and
packaging?
Does anybody know the pin arrangements for the adapter (if that was the
factory solution)? I'd like it to be as close to original as possible.
Thanks.
