I like this idea. I was using GraphicWriter III the other day trying
to layout a booklet. I created a two column layout and imported my
text and started changing the margins, indents and tabs to what I
wanted and it was dog slow because it had to do so much work to redraw
the display.
Being able to edit the text and adjust the margins, indents, tabs,
justification, font type, style and size without it having to
recalculate how to draw it on the page would make editting a whole lot
nicer.
Could this not be added by writing an XCMD for GraphicWriter III v2.0?
Now to contribute my thoughts to some other thoughts on this thread.

I would vote for having the entire text of the story being put into
the editor window. You could also maintain the current selection
and/or cursor location.
I'm not exactly sure what you meant by the second question. Do you
mean if the you bring the page layout window to the front while you
still have the story editor window open? If so, you could either copy
the current story from the story editor into the page layout window
when you select the page layout window or, for an even easier
solution, don't let the user bring the page layout window to the front
without closing the story editor window. This would then put the new
text into the page layout window or return the original text if the
user decided to cancel the changes they made while in the story
editor.

See my answer to your first question above.
