Well, most of the people I see posting in comp.emulators.apple2 did
own or still own working or dead Apple IIs.  Most people just don't
have the equipment, or know how to create their own images of ROMs or
disks.  The know how can easily be learned but a lot of people are
very lazy.  The equipment, meaning working hardware and/or software,
is a much harder problem do deal with as it requires that new hardware
and/or software be purchased a second time just to make images.

I believe this is why asimov exists and is so popular.

Actually, not all of them are IBM users.  There are Apple II emulators
available for MS-DOS, Windows, Linux, MacIntoshes and, I'm sure about
this one, Amigas.  All these people have been posting in
comp.emulators.apple2 so you won't just be irritating IBM users.  :)

Seriously, the people there seem to be quite friendly.  There has been
little to no flame wars there and messages are usually on topic and to
the point.  So posting rules like these probably wouldn't be taken too
badly.
