Probably needed to rearrange things to fit the PAL colour circuitry in but that
is only a guess.
>What are the major differences?
1) Built-in PAL colour card on the motherboard
2) 50Hz IOU instead of 60Hz (assuming there are no 60Hz PAL countries)
3) Slightly different clock speed (a tad slower to make the horizontal
frequency exactly 15625Hz)
4) Better 2nd language/keyboard layout support (a 2764 video ROM rather
than a 2732 and a switch under the keyboard to select which character
set and keyboard layout is desired).
5) Even Rev-A PAL motherboards can do double res graphics (at least the
one in the office here can...)

I think the Platinum //e was only released as an NTSC model but with 50/60Hz
selected for each country - can anyone confirm/deny this? I only ever saw a
Platinum //e once and did not think to take a close look at the slots.
If you put an NTSC m/b in your //e case you will loose the features listed
above and gain a slot (provided you do not need PAL output).
