OK.  Let me re-phrase my question :-

What on earth made Apple do two different board designs which effectively gives 
non-US users one slot less?  
(Don't tell me - because it's Apple...)

What are the major differences?

So, if I get a US m/b and swap it for mine, do I get anything other than a free
slot? (or maybe a new //e, say, a Platinum from Alltech)

Can I get anymore questions in on this post? ;)
