Trying to get an Apple Parallel Card to work
I picked up an Apple II Parallel Interface Card (real Apple hardware, not a
clone) today so that I might try getting my laser printer to work with my
GS. It's installed in slot 1 and slot 1 is set to "Your Card."
Straight-through DB-25 cables connect both this card and the parallel port
in my Linux box to a switchbox; a standard (IBM-type) parallel cable runs
from the switchbox output to the printer. Printing from the Linux box still
works, but I can't get the Apple to print anything through its parallel
card. (Printing to an Imagewriter on the built-in serial port if slot 1 is
switched back to "Printer Port.")
Is the pinout of the DB-25 connector on the parallel card the same as on an
IBM clone's parallel port, or do I need to rewire the port to get it to work
properly? The only documentation I have for the card is a couple of sheets
describing switch settings.
