help w/modem

I'm having problems using ASCII Express, a super serial card, and an Avatex
1200hc modem.

I've been trying to dial while in AE and haven't found a way to get the info to
the modem.  It says in the AE manual that either I'd have to use a macro (to
little avail) or I'd have to devise a way to get the modem's attention by
refering to the maunufacterer's instructions on how to do this.  The modem was
given to me without the operation instructions.  Does anyone have a an Avatex
1200hc or know where I could get an instruction booklet?  Any help is
appreciated.
