I once had this symptom myself.  GS/OS uses some information in the
directory (a back pointer) that ProDOS 8 ignores.  I had made the
mistake of using Copy II+ on the directory (to sort it), and it had
trashed that information.  I used ShrinkIt to archive the directory
and delete it, then restored it.  Once the offending directory is
gone, there should be no further problems.
