I almost did. Since I like many Canadians of my era including my wife
studied American History in High School and since television and print media
and media in Canada in general has been in my lifetime as much or more
American content as Canadian Content * THAT * would be true of many of us up
here.

* HOWEVER *

1. IMO America's inclusive "Melting Pot" methodology is superior to Canada's
divisive Multiculturism as a catalyst to nation building and a unified sense
of collective awareness.

E Pluribus Unum *vs* Divide et impera

2. Many Western Canadians know more about Americans in general than many
"New Canadians" know about Canadians in General.

3. Many Western Canadians know more about Americans in general than many
Eastern Canadians and especially Quebecois know about Western Canadians in
General.

4. Many Older Canadians know more about Americans in general than many
Younger Canadians know about Canadians in General.

* AND *

5. Many Older Programmers know more about computers in general than many
Younger Programmers know about programming the Apple II.

Your country has no mandate on stupidity.

I'm aware (not appalled) at the stupidity that exists not only in the world
at large but even in my own mind at times. I'm almost appalled at the
stupidity that exists in hindsight that was not apparent in the moment; past
stupidity is not necessarily apparent in the future so is easily ignored in
the present.

The Lady in the Harbour is not eclusively American at all of course. Like
the American mortgage crisis which recently brought the world economy down
with stupid insular American politicians not accepting ownership and
responsibility for their global economic carnage and failing to act on thir
responsibility in a timely manner, the Americans of that day were quite
content to let others outside of the US shoulder most of the cost.
