That does pose a bit of a hassle, however only for //e, //+ users if
you use the Control Panel implementation on the GS.  The Fingerprint
card had a slick implementation for an external switch, however that
was for a single push button, this would probably require a little more
complexity.  FYI, the fingerprint card used a flat laminated cable
which easily bypassed the lids of the //e and GS.

Thinking WAY out of the box..........
Bluetooth might be an option in a year or two, given the mass market
acceptance of the technology.  There's probably a turnkey chipset out
there that could make the implementation somewhat easier.  You'd have
to develop a seperate "remote" however.  It would be easier to
physically wire up a small switch, but not as badass as saying "Yeah,
let me get my bluetooth remote so we can play Karateka."
