I think that there was an overlap of about a year when both systems
were available.
The price list dated May 1, 1980 still lists both systems!

Apple II+ production started June 1979 according Stephen Weyhrich.
I don't know when Apple stopped the production of the Apple II, that's
why I asked about the mainboard dates of the high Sn. Apple IIs

II: the highest Sn. I have seen was in the 71000s
II+: the highest Apple II+ Sn. I have seen was in the 570000s (-->there
might be hgher numbers does anyone has one of those???), add ca. 100000
europlus computers and the j-plus models (-->I have no idea how many
were made - are there any japanese collectors following who know
something?)
