Me neither. In general, sending the sound through two channels works
best. Most home systems are set up for two channels; and, stereo, when
available, could be degraded by splitting the effect into extra speakers
which happen to be poorly placed. The same applies to non-stereo two-channel
game, etc. effects planned for one side or the other.
If sound boards offered four channels, there might be incentive to
develop 4-channel "surround effects" material. The sound card would need to
use an additional 'address' line from the J-25 connector, add another MPX
IC, and add a couple more OpAmp IC's for the two extra output channels.
