HyperStudio problem

Is there anyone out there who has experience with HyperStudio? I have a 
problem that is slowly driving me crazy and would appreciate some advice.

I hope this is the right place to post this - if it's not I apologize; 
perhaps someone could politely tell me where I should be doing this. 
Please don't flame me for my ignorance - ignorance is merely a lack of 
knowledge and experience. 

My problem: I've set up a HS stack in which the first card has an 
auto-activate button pointing to the second card. The second card has an 
auto-active button with some SimpleScript that selects which card to go 
to next (based on today's date actually) then goes there. 

The sequence works well, except that when it arrives at the apropriate 
date card it jumps straight back to the first card and does it all again. 
The result is an endless loop. 

I've checked and rechecked all the buttons and scripts. I've tried 
replacing stuff - but just can't find any reason for this loop. Can anyone 
suggest what the problem is?
