    Oops, I of course meant 6mm tall, the above would be an almost
microscopic bulb. ;) The entire lamp from top to bottom (including
pins and plastic base) is just under 1 inch tall. When I used a 
LED as a replacement, I had to cut the pins so there was enough
clearance for it to fit. Generally a LED won't be as bright as the
mini lamp however, I especially noticed that in my Apple IIe.
