I second most of what Nathan said. I can probably provide all the
information you need to get ShrinkIt1.1.SEA working.

The SEA file on Apple's FTP server appears to be a IIgs self-extracting
archive without any additional headers. Its URL is:

<ftp://ftp.info.apple.com/Apple.Support.Area/Apple.Software.Updates/US/A
pple_II/Apple_II_Supplemental/ShrinkIt1.1.SEA>

I downloaded it using Fetch, with "Binary" mode set (instead of
"Automatic"). It appears that Fetch automatically recognised the ".SEA"
extension, and set its filetype to indicate it was a Macintosh
application (type 'APPL', creator '????'). Attempting to do a Get Info
on this with Snitch installed failed, because it isn't actually a
Macintosh application (no resource fork) and Snitch is trying to examine
some of the standard application resources.

I had to use ResEdit to change its file type before I could do anything
useful with it (ProType would probably do the trick, but I don't have
it).

By changing the type to 'PS16' and creator to 'pdos', the resulting file
is a fully functional IIgs application. It can be copied to a ProDOS
disk (via PC Exchange) and the resulting file works fine on the IIgs.
It can also be launched directly over an AppleTalk network.

Note that IIgs ShrinkIt 1.1 requires System 5.0.4 or later. If you are
using an earlier system software version, you will need to use the 8-bit
"ShrinkIt" application instead. This runs under ProDOS-8 on a IIgs, IIc
or enhanced 128K IIe.
