The trick is only pushing as much as you need to. My signature edition,
wrapping up its tenth year of use, still has its catches and they still work
like new. And it's been cracked open more than a few times over the years.

At first the lid was hard to get off because the metal shielding hung on the
back edge of the lid, making it necessary to pry against the lid to get
it off. Bending the shielding where it curls over the top behind the slots
cured that.

Never had that trouble, but then again I replaced my original with an old
standard keyboard. Same layout, but bigger keys and nicer feel. But my
original and the one that came with the new ROM 0 signature edition I
got a coupla months back both still work.
