Dynalink modem/Super serial combo

Help!

I have purchased a 14400 Dynalink modem model 1414vqe, which is a plain
14400 bps modem with v.32....
I have connected it to a stock Apple super serial card and set the
jumpers to the following:
1-1 1-2 1-3 1-4 1-5 1-6 1-7 2-1 2-2 2-3 2-4 2-5 2-6 2-7
off off off on on on on on on on on off off off

I can control the modem by typing stuff like ATM1, ATDT xxxx etc and
that works ok, but it doesn't echo or return anything to my 2e. It's
getting a bit dull trying to imagine what should be on screen :-)

I'm using Proterm 3.0 and a generic 9600 driver. I have to force it into
terminal mode using SA-T

Anyone able to offer help?

Regards, Graeme
