I have had a NiCad battery pack in my other GS for a couple of years now 
with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I haven't even had to remove them 
for a recharge. They are attached to the old battery leads with alligator 
clips, so it will be no big deal when I do have to charge them up.

The batteries were free as well. They came from a screwed up cordless 
phone I had :)
