Help needed with my GS!

To all;
  Well, I managed to do it really good!  I was *attempting* to install
System 6.0.1 or whatever it is on my HD and I somehow managed to really
screw things up.  So bad, in fact, that I now can't get to my HD AT ALL!
  I can boot from a disk, but I can only get to the desktop--it doesn't
show my HD at all!  I have loads of neato, peachy-keen stuff on my HD so I wouldreally, really like to fix this.  OK, what do I do?
  It seems to me as if I will just about have to take my HD over to somebody's
house and daisy-chain it to theirs.  Is there another way for me to fix this
screw-up?  If someone knew how to fix my problem and was in the Washington, 
D.C. area, I would actually be willing to give them a couple of bucks (I DO mean a couple, by the way--I'm pretty broke right now) if they would come over and
help me out.
  Does anyone have any suggestions for me?  I really want to get back at the
"helm" of my nice little GS. I miss it!
