System 6 problem

Problem with System 6.0.1 and unknown numbers of add-ons.
 
When the mouse cursor touches the Color menu selection
in Finder, the color boxes drop down (automatic - I
have it set that way) and if it touches it a second
time, the whole system goes haywaire. Such a bad crash a normal reset
won't work. I'd rather keep the system set
up the way it is. Is there instead a way to disable
the Color menu selection in Finder?
