Re: Help Transporter _modem_
> Ok, I'll bite. I know what TC2 is, but what's chat?
Chat is Steven Wallace's custom SHR (not desktop) GS/OS telecom program for
Apple IIgs. Think of it as the SHR ProTERM we've dreamed about before.
It does up to 57.6k (display is fast enough to keep up), and was gonna
do X, Y, Zmodem and goodies. (Note I said SHR ProTERM because it is like
it in program layout, menus... etc.)
The project has been cancelled (announced on the beta list few weeks ago),
which is a sad thing. I've suggested to Steven about releasing it as
freeware at this stage. It would work great as true ANSI/VT-100 emulator.
But Steven has been busy, and we haven't talk about it in a while.
Steven originally was going to release his ported, shell utility rz/sz
as freeware, I don't know the status of it now. It is very fast, and
does direct modem port access. It works as X, and Zmodem as well. It
works with ORCA, GNO, and prolly other 16 bit shells (ECP-16... etc.)
too.
