I agree with Ian and Jeffrey - comp.sys.apple2 is not an appropriate
place for discussion of general Usenet and Internet functions.
It is relevant to discuss those subjects here in the context of
accessing Apple II data (e.g. Apple II-related WWW pages, FTP sites,
etc.) but general discussion on these topics should go in more
appropriate newsgroups.
I would have no objection to occasional or regular messages being
posted here pointing new users to appropriate places to find out about
particular Internet functions. Perhaps an entry could be added to the
comp.sys.apple2 FAQ?

Using an Apple II to tap into the Internet is a perfectly valid
discussion topic for comp.sys.apple2. The discussion should be moved
elsewhere if it is covering general Internet services that are not
Apple II specific.
One possibility to keep in mind is that discussions could be
cross-posted to comp.sys.apple2 and to more appropriate newsgroups, if
they contain any Apple II-specific material. If followups tend toward
Apple II-specific material or generic material, the discussion should
continue only on the relevant newsgroup.
