It's turmoil, yes, but it's also damn fine sound cards at amazingly
low prices.  32 voice 16 bit wavetable sound for $99.  If the PC had a
sound "standard" it would be something crappy like an Adlib or
Soundblaster, and we'd be stuck with those forever.

Yes, considering that it was far in advance of what other computers
were offering at the time.  Now if they'd only done the same thing
with the graphics...
