Disk ][ Help!

My Disk ][ is having a problem. The drive can't sense whether a disk is
write protected or not. It thinks every disk is unprotected. The little
switch where the cut out lines up seems to be ok (it makes a nice little
click when it's moved). Any help, ideas? I know next to nothing about how
these things work internally. I checked to make sure it wasn't a problem
with my controller so I am sure it's the drive. Any help would be most
appreciated.
