Re: Okay, old IIGS, New Life...
Well, if you have the ROM 1's you're ok there, but youre definately going
to want a hard drive, and probably an accelerator also. The two most
popular scsi hd card ar the RamFast, and the Apple high speed scsi. The
Ram Fast is quicker, but if you are on a tight budget, the apple card
should certainly be quick enough. If you can get something else used for
really cheap, that's ok too, it all depends on how much you want to spend.
In the area of accelerators there are also two choices, eithr Applied
Engineering's TransWarpGS (i don't know if these are still in production)
or the Zip GS. I have a transwarp and I love it, but most people seem to be
bying the Zip accelerator these days, possibly the transwarp has been
discontinued. You are also going to need a bunch more memory to run
modern programs, I recommend buying a 4mb card which should cost about $120
or so. Try TMS peripherals at 1800-275-4867, or Quality Computers (i don't
have the # handy) either place should be able tho fulfill all of you
hardware needs.
For software, you will need to ged ahold of the latest system software
which is currently 6.01 I know one of the ftp sites has the software,
hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction.
Hope this helps,
