Some progress has been made. I hooked up a standard modem lead rather than a
null-modem lead (gender changing as required) and flipped the switches to a
position that I believe should be 4800, 1 stop bit. Typed in the program and
got a lovely line of 'TESTING's pouring down the Hyperterm screen.

Woot.

However, resetting the //e then type IN#2 and typing on the PC keyboard
(still in Hyperterm) resulted in...nothing.

So I'm halfway there at least.
