Re: PART-SOLVED: Focus Utilities vs CF to IDE adaptor?

Hi Sean,

I've pretty well decided to cut my losses and just get another 128MB card or two - I thought the 512MB card would be better value, but not if it ain't working! :)

Unfortunately not all CF cards are created equal. Especially when it comes to TrueIDE mode and DMA. We've had all sorts of problems using different manufacturers in various configurations and it's a case of finding one that works and trying to stick to that.

Do you know if the controller you're using is running PIO or DMA mode?

The Focus controller would be PIO.

BTW, every type of CF card I've tried works fine in cameras and with
my PC's reader, so what kind of variability is not being tolerated to
cause the problems you describe? Are all the timing specs being met?

Put another way, if dozens of cameras and PC readers can work with all
the CF cards, then there must be some other problem.
