Actually, the A2 power supply is quite efficient--the first modern switch-mode power supply in a personal computer! It's not quite up to today's specs, but 70%-80% efficiency isn't bad. That means that the power supply itself only "wastes" about 20%-30% of the power being consumed--the rest goes to heating the computer. ;-) -michael NadaNet file server for Apple II computers!
