This and other thoughts about the reason for the "Slinky" name may well be
correct, but the starting point is that it was the internal development code
name for the card.
It works perfectly well in my GS. In particular, it makes a much better RAM
disk than the inbuilt GS RAM disk because it's much harder for it to get
trashed if some program runs amok.
