Snicker.  I understand.  I've got this weird dream of writing myself a 
compiler so I can _develop_ for the IIgs.  However, I've never used 
lex/yacc and haven't touched any C for about a decade.  Maybe it's a 
disease??

Per the problem, do you have any terminal applications?  I only ask 
because once I got the IIgs "boot strapped" I purchased ProTERM (I wanted 
Z-Modem) and haven't looked back.  I could have just done that from the 
get-go, but that's another story.  ;-)

I originally started with my laptop, a USB-serial dongle, a null modem 
line, and the funky IIgs "modem cable" (mini-din 8 to DB25/DB9).  I used 
minicom under Cygwin on the Windows XP side and that worked pretty good.  
Now I've hard-wired my IIgs to the Linux box (about 60 feet away and a 
floor below), and it works like a champ at 57600.
