Sorry for the confusion.. I have MacADT up and running on an older
G3 using OS 8.6. On the GS end I'm using ADTgs connecting thru the
built in modem port. Using an ImageWriter II cable ( I think? cable
names are a bit confusing). It has mini DB-8 (small round connectors)
on each end. This is working very well and I will most likely be using
this method until I can get some better storage on the GS.... disk
switching for OS/GS on floppy is becoming a major pain. Then I will
most likely use a telecom or Appletalk to xfer raw images and write
them on the GS with Asimov. I have an old Quadra and have tried just
writing the images to a ProDOS formatted 3.5 but I keep running into
errors in writing on the Mac side and decoding on the GS side... I'm
not sure the exact problem there but most likely it's my inexperience
with the filetypes and filesystem. I wanted to get ADTPro running
because it seemed more versatile, runs in ProDOS, and allows for 3.5
disk copies.
I have come to believe that it's the USB/Serial adaptor that is the
roadblock as I'm not sure if I have it configured correctly. It's a
keyspan adaptor and I have the driver installed. It shows up in the
Network Preference Pane and I have it set to do Null Modem xfer at 9600
baud. It also shows in the ADTPro list of devices .. but it shows as a
list of 4 diff things.. /dev/tty.keyspan1 .. /dev/cu.keyspan1 .....
/dev/tty."a number assigned to the port" .. /dev/cu."a number assigned
to port" . The "a number assigned to the port" is a serial number type
thing that shows in the Keyspan debug app when a cable is attached to
the adaptor. I have tried all four on OSX side, with the GS side set to
IIgs modem and 9600 baud and they all return the same "querying file
size" an the OSX side and "cannot open file" on the GS side. I pretty
sure there's some communiction going on ... just not the right kind ..
lol.

I used this basic setup to xfer ADTgs and the ADTPro gs client from
MacADT 1.2.1. So I'm pretty sure the cabling is correct.
Thanks for your help and attention!
