The workbench version mentioned earlier predates the spiral-bound
version you have. It was really a pre-release developer's reference for
ProDOS, only coverering ProDOS 1.0 (back when ProDOS only required 48KB
of RAM), and had a few errors and omissions.

I almost ended up with a copy of the workbench version years ago when I
ordered the ProDOS Technical Reference from my local Apple dealer. When
I picked it up I was a bit disappointed to find it was a loose leaf
manual with no folder included, and seemed to mention ProDOS 1.0 a lot (
this was around 1992). Shortly after I got home with it I received an
urgent call from the Apple dealer asking if I would return it. It turned
out they had ordered the wrong manual, and the workbench version I had
was priced much higher than the Addison Wesley version I was supposed to
have received and for which I had already paid. I was happy to return it
since the later book was much better, but I do wonder what happened to
the long-obsolete workbench copy the dealer returned to the distributor.
